Uppu Hulli Kara Dose[Red spicy-sour dosa]
Ingredients:
- 2 cup long grain rice/dosa rice
- 4-8 Dry red chilies(byadige mensu)
- 2 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp jeera(cumin seeds)
- hing powder(asafetida)
- 3" tamarind/2 tsp tamarind paste
- salt
- 2"jaggary(optional)[some like really sweet can add more)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup fresh coconut grated
- oil/ghee
Method:
Soak rice in water for 5-6 hours.Wash this rice 2-3 times and keep it aside.Grind this along with all the ingredients above except oil/ghee in blender into smooth paste and dosa consistency.No need for fermentation as tamarind is there,but if you want you can grind the batter 2-3 hours before.
Heat the griddle,pour batter in the centre and spread from the back side of the ladle same as normal dosa.Spread oil/ghee on the dosa or around the dosa.close the lid or cook for 2 minutes till it become lightly roasted on back.Turn over to cook otherside of the dosa.
Remove and serve hot with chutney's,coconut-jaggary mixer , pickle or eat just like that with butter.
