Rice and Moong(Green Gram Dal) Dal powder

This is a very healthy ,nutritious and a filling food for babies and kids age 8months-2yrs.Now also i prepare and keep this for my son(18 months old),so that when he is bored with same food or not eating his regular
meal i make this and give him.I was giving this food when he was 8months-13 months once a day.after he started eating our normal food i stoped it .In India my Mom used prepare this at home and give to me.
but when the stock brought from India was over,i started preparing by own.Its easy and we can prepare less quantity and store.
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sonamasuri rice
  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 1 elaichi(cardamon)
  • 1 lavang(clove)
Method:
Wash rice 3-4 time nicely and then put it over paper towel/cheese cloth.spread it on a big plate and dry it inside the house for 2-3 days.

When the rice is completely dry fry without oil in a pan till aroma comes.don't burn the rice.remove  and keep aside.


Now take moong dal and fry this with oil till nice aroma comes/dal turns light brown.When rice and dal  cools off,powder together with elaichi and lavang in coffee grinder(Indian blender) into fine powder.this powder digest well too.

while making the baby food,you need to take 1 cup of water,1 tsp powder ,little salt and cook it properly in a pan,stirring in between.when the mixer is cooked properly (5-10 minutes) ,switch off the gas and put it in a bowl.put little ghee on it and   feed.
You can prepare with milk and sugar too .that will taste like rice-dal payasa.if baby likes sweet you can make like this.
