"Benne Biscuit" (Butter Biscuit)

This is about the popular bakery product in Bangalore... Benne (Butter) biscuit is the hot favourite in Karnataka available in Ayyangar Bakeries.. I wanted to try this at home for long time.. During Xmas vacation, I gave it a shot..here is the recipe.. Ingradients : 1 cup Maida; 1/4th tsp Baking soda; 1/2 tsp Baking powder; 1/4th tsp Salt; 1/2 cup softened butter; 1/3rd cup white sugar.. Sift Maida, baking powder, soda and salt for few minutes.. Keep it aside.. In another bowl, mix butter and sugar until it becomes creamy and pluffy.. You may use machine beater or hand beater.. Machine beater provides more softness.. Optional - you may add 1 tsp of Vanilla ascence.. Mix the flour to Sugar/butter bowl little by little to make a soft dough..Should not be sticky and hard... Preheat the oven to 350 degree F.. make about 12 to 14 balls of cookie..Do not press too hard.. place them on the baking sheet.. separated by 2"..sprinkle little flour on them..Keep them in the fridge...

I think everybody is familiar with this delicious cool dessert .when we were kids eating this cool Indian Ice cream is to be so much fun.sometimes with our mom's help ,used to prepare this ice cream at home and used to be very impatient to eat it.we used check freezer every 5 minutes to see if the Kulfi is done and mom used to scold us for that. But after a long wait the result used to be very delicious.And we used to proudly eat that icecrem as we used to believe we made it. This is a home remedy for soar throat,cough and cold.You should drink this hot ,which will clear all the congestion.Also before going to bed if you drink will show the result quickly.I learned this from my Mother - in - law .whenever my husband gets cold one week he wants kashaya twice a day and eats rice and peeper rasam for lunch and dinner.I have seen this home remedy really helps to get well soon from cold.There are many types of kashaya and many ways of preparing it.Kashayas are very common drink in Coastal part of Karnataka(Mangalore region) .
