Diwali special------ Rice Chakkuli / Murukku


Chakkuli/Murukku is a savoury snacks very popular in India.It is originated in south India and western part of India.There are many ways of preparing this snack,i have already post one version of Chakuli.this is second way of preparing it.This method i learnt it from my Mom which is made of rice flour and hurukaddle.
My mom makes very tasty and crispy ones .i also tried and turned out pretty good.So here is the recipes which is a festival/diwali special.

Ingredients:
3 cups Rice flour
1 cup Fried gram dal(Hurrikadalle)
2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida(hing)
salt
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp hot oil
oil for frying

Method:
Fry without oil fried gram dal just to make it warm.
Dry grind it into fine powder.


Take a mixing bowl and mix all the above ingredients, and also sprinkle hot oil on these mixer.
Mix these ingredients very well and then knead thoroughly adding required water.
The dough should be little hard not very thin.

Grease Chakkuli machine and put 1-2 tbsp of dough into it.
press the chakkuli maker  and try to make shapes like spiral or coil.

Heat oil  and when oil becomes hot put these chukkuli into it.
Fry these in medium flame till both sides are cooked and the Chakkuli turns red color.
Drain and remove them on kitchen paper towel.

These can also be stored for weeks but should be stored in air tight container.

Goes well with tea.My mom prepares these snack during janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi and also during Diwali.I also try these snack during festivals and whenever my hubby and my kids crave for that.
