Shunty (Ginger ) Leheyam

This is a ayurvedic home medicine which is given after (post) Pregnancy.  It helps you regain your body strength,milk production,digestion,Back ache ,cold and cough .Generally these leheyams are given for 40 days,but can have till 3 months.My mom has prepared all these leheyams at home and given me for 3 months.from the day one i used and  followed strict diet,specific food and taken all these leheyam.Now a days many don't believe in these home medicines and diet but i believed in them.Actually now a days as you take Other medicine so no need for complete ayurvedic medicines,but diet and few of these leheyam if you take it will really help you throughout your life .I am not any Ayurvedic doctor,but just want to share these recipe which my mom has prepared after my  deliveries.My mom as done researched for this medicines and consult her mom and aunts for making it.I felt to share those with you all ,just a guideline if you want to use some these Leheyams.You can also refer some of these ayurvedic blog like Ammas.com and many others for different types of leheyams and their use.With this post my Sweet Mela is getting over for now,hope you all liked it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 big cup full Fresh Shunty(Ginger)/100 g
  • 1 big onion
  • 1 tsp jeera(cumin seeds)
  • 1 cup jaggary
  • 1/2 cu ghee 

Method:

Clean,Wash,dry and peel Ginger. Make thin small slices of it.

put it on thin muslin cloth or kitchen paper towel and  dry this in sun for 2-3 days,if in winter you cannot keep outside ,keep it in the place where more sunlight comes.

When it is nicely dried make dry powder of the same.

Clean onion and make very thin slices of it.
Take a pan add 1 tbsp of ghee,cumin seeds.when cumin seeds are light brown add onion and in medium flame nicely fry this onion till onion turns brown color.This will take around 10 minutes.


Now add powder shunty ,jaggary and remaining ghee and stir properly so that jaggary melts completely.
Continuously stir this leheyam till it starts leaving the sides of the pan,if you want can add more ghee.


Remove from heat and pour it on greased plate.You can make ladoos of the same and store after it is completely cooled off.everyday you should take small one servings of it . when you are taking all these leheyams you should take milk properly.Some says all these leheyams you should take early morning on empty stomach.
Every month 1 type of leheyam is prepared .i have taken 3 types of leheyam that is Shunty leheyam,Menthe(methi seeds) leheyam and finally the Gondh dry fruits leheyam.Also you should not take all these too much at a time and you should finished one type then start with other.
