Gobi(cauliflower)/Baby Corn Manchurian

This dish i must say as Indian Chinese recipe.In Indian restaurants they prepare very tasty.Here as we won't find in restaurants and specially vegetarians doesn't have much options in Chinese restaurants.So for very special occasions i prepare this dish.
This dish requires little more ingredients and time,but the effort is worthwhile when the final result comes.
It is a very good appetizer.



Ingredients:
For cauliflower / baby corn manchurian
  • 1/2 cup of Maida (all purpose flour)
  • 1 big bowl of cauliflower/Baby corn washed and separate the florets of cauliflower and for baby corn you can use fresh or the can one.  
  • 4 tbsp Corn Flour
  • salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder  
  • 1 tsp red chili powder/1/2 tsp ginger-green chili paste
  • 1/4 cup =2tbsp water
  • oil for frying
  • Sliced vegetables like carrot,onions(optional)
For dry Gravy/Sauce:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 med onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup capsicum
  • 3 large cloves garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 2 green chilies cut diagonally
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp red chili sauce
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 4 tsp soy sauce
  • salt to taste
  • sugar
  • 4 tbsp water mixed with 1 tsp corn starch.
  • 2 tsp corn starch
  • 4 green onion cut diagonally
Method :
for pakoda/Manchurian method:

Mix together maida,corn flour,salt ,pepper,chili paste and water .Mix properly so that no lumps should be there.then add cauliflower ,cut carrots or baby corn in it.
Heat sufficient oil in a wok /pan and deep fry cauliflower into small batches for 5-6 minutes on medium heat or until golden brown.Drain and remove into an absorbent kitchen towel.
Method for sauce/gravy preparation:

 Take  pan add oil stir fry ginger,garlic briefly.add chopped green chili, onion ,chopped capsicum and stir for 2 minutes.
Add soy sauce,tomato ketchup,red chili sauce,vinegar,pepper powder,sugar,salt to taste.stir fry for 1 minutes,then add blended cornstarch and cook for couple of minutes or the sauce starts to thicken,stir continuously.
Add the fried  Cauliflower/Baby Corn and mix well. garnish with green onions.


Serve hot,garnished with chopped spring onion greens and stir fried vegetables.
