Mangalore Cuisine---------Bombay Sagu

            

This is a dish which my mother-in-law prepares as a side dish/combination for Rava Idli.It really goes very well with rava idli.For chapatti's also its a good side dish and quite easy to make.

Ingredients:
  • 2 big tomatoes chopped
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • ginger
  • 2-3 green chilli cut lengthwise
  • 1/4 cup green peas cooked
  •  1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4-1/2  tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • salt to taste
  • sugar(optional)
  • 1 tsp besan(gram flour) 
  •   seasoning
  • 2 tsp oil 
  • 1 tsp jeera(cumin seeds)
  • curry leaves
Method :
Take a pan ,add oil ,jeera and curry leaves.when jeera are roasted,add onion,ginger and green chili.fry onion till it turns brown .

Now add tomatoes,peas,turmeric powder,red chili powder,coriander powder and stir for 2 minutes.close the lid and let the tomatoes are cooked properly.after approximately 3 minutes add salt,sugar and garam masala and stir it properly.add 1 cup water and let the gravy comes to boil.

Take 1 tsp of besan and mix it with 1/4 cup of water.add this paste into the gravy and stir properly so that lumps won't be formed.Finally garnish it with coriander leaves.
