This snack is also one of the speciality of karnataka cuisine. This one too my mom used to prepare during Diwali and all other festivals. The recipe is some what similar to chakuli. In these few more ingredients is required and the shape of it is different like a disc. My son likes this snack very much,so i prepare this snack quite offen.

Ingredients:
3 cups Rice flour
1 cup Fried gram dal powder(Hurrikadalle)
2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida(hing)
2-3 tsp crushed groundnuts/peanuts
1-2 tsp fried gram dal
salt
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp hot oil
oil for frying

Method:
Fry without oil fried gram dal just to make it warm.
Dry grind it into fine powder.

Take a mixing bowl and mix all the above ingredients, and also sprinkle hot oil on these mixer.
Mix these ingredients very well and then knead thoroughly adding required water.
The dough should be little hard not very thin.

Take a little portion from the mixer and pat it on the plastic sheet.
Heat oil  and when oil becomes hot put these  into it.
Fry these in medium flame till both sides are cooked and the nippattu turns red color.
Drain and remove them on kitchen paper towel.

These can also be stored for weeks but should be stored in air tight container.

Goes well with tea.My mom prepares these snack during janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi , Diwali.I also try these snack during festivals and whenever my hubby and my kids crave for that.

    1. hi shyla,
      Thanks for your appreciation.
regarding your doubt,i think you got confused .
Here i am frying 1 cup of fried gram dal which is also called as phutani or hurakaddale in kannada or dalia in marathi or chutney dal and then make powder of the above.here fried gram dal powder is not gram flour or besan.
Also i have added 2 tsp of fried gram dal along with ground nut to get bite size here and there.i hope your doubt is clear.
